Flood is very common in our Bangladesh. It is an annual affair in Bangladesh. Bangladesh suffers from flood almost every year. Due to excessive rainfall or any other cause when rivers & canals overflow their banks & make a huge loss to crops & property, it is called flood.

Flood causes a big loss of our life, property & crops. It washes away villages, roads & even people's houses. Many human lives are lost. All the communication system is suspended. People become homeless. They take shelter on the high roads, schools & colleges.

Almost every year some parts of Bangladesh are affected by flood. There were floods in 1954, 1955, 1960, 1963, 1981, 1988, 1998, 2004, 2007. The flood of 1988 & 2004 was the most terrible.

Floods do some good to us. It makes our lands fertile by depositing silt. It washes away filth & dirt.

Flood is not blessing for us. It washes away our houses & crops.

Flood cause a huge loss to country every year. So we must control flood at any cost.
